❓ What is ScreamSeed?


ScreamSeed is currently in development. It’s a bold new initiative from the team behind In Search of Darkness that gives horror fans the power to help discover, fund, and follow the next great horror filmmaker. We’re building a platform where a passionate community can vote on pitches, support productions, and be part of the journey from script to screen.

?️ When can I submit my pitch?


We’ll begin accepting filmmaker pitches in September 2025. Until then, we’re finalizing the platform, submission guidelines, and community tools.

? Is there a submission fee?


Nope. It’s completely free to submit your pitch to ScreamSeed.


We believe in breaking down barriers for emerging horror filmmakers—and that includes waiving any submission fees.

? Will there be pitch guidelines?


Yes. We’ll release detailed pitch guidelines ahead of the submission window. All pitches must follow these guidelines to be considered.


The guidelines will outline:

  • What materials to submit (logline, budget, video pitch, etc.)

  • Budget parameters

  • Creative requirements

  • Community involvement expectations

? What is the budget for the selected film?


The chosen filmmaker will receive a production budget of $200,000 (USD).


This funding comes from our community and is designed to give one filmmaker the chance to create a breakout horror feature—with support every step of the way.

? What kinds of films are you looking for?


We’re seeking original, low-budget horror films that can be made on $200,000 or less. Think practical effects, inventive storytelling, and filmmakers who are excited to take our audience behind the scenes.

? What else should I know?

  • ScreamSeed is not accepting pitches yet—please wait until September 2025.

  • All eligible submissions must follow the official pitch guidelines.

  • The community votes on which film gets made.

  • This is not a casting platform—we do not facilitate actor submissions or casting requests.

  • ScreamSeed will be 100% online, with regular updates for both filmmakers and fans.

  • We’re creating something that’s part crowdfunding, part mentorship, and part creative movement.
