Aliens Expanded – 40th Anniversary Limited Edition FAQ
To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Aliens, we're releasing a special limited-run edition of the award-winning Aliens Expanded documentary in brand-new collector's packaging. Featuring Sigourney Weaver, James Cameron, Michael Biehn, and many more — plus over 15 hours of special features — this is the ultimate companion to James Cameron's Aliens. Here's everything you need to know.
What is the 40th Anniversary Edition?
This is a limited-run release of Aliens Expanded in special anniversary packaging. The Blu-ray edition includes two Blu-ray discs in a single Blu-ray case, a 32-page printed booklet, a special 40th anniversary hard slipcover, and an immediate digital download of the documentary and all special features. All items come together as one package. None of the elements are available separately, and we are not able to sell the slipcover on its own.
A digital-only edition is also available, which includes the documentary and all special features as immediate digital downloads (no physical items).
What's on the discs?
The two-disc set contains over 18 hours of content:
Disc 1 – Aliens Expanded Documentary: The original Rondo-award-winning, four-hour documentary — a passionate and sophisticated exploration of Aliens featuring stories, insight, and personal detail from the cast and crew. The documentary analyzes the crucial scenes of Aliens in chronological order, taking you behind the scenes and under the skin of the film.
Disc 2 – Special Features (15+ hours): More than twelve hours of extended uncut interviews from the production, plus the Aliens Expanded Theatrical Cut — a 100-minute version of the documentary with a pacier, more direct feel — and Inside Aliens Expanded, where writer-director Ian Nathan and executive producer Robin Block take you inside the making of the documentary.
Is there new content on the discs?
No. The Blu-ray discs are exactly the same as those included in the Aliens Expanded Collector's Edition released in 2025. There is no new content on the discs — this release is about the new anniversary packaging and slipcover.
What about digital fulfillment?
Digital fulfillment happens immediately upon purchase. As soon as your order is confirmed, you'll receive access to the digital version right away.

When will my Blu-ray ship?
We are currently taking pre-orders. Orders close on April 28th at midnight. We expect fulfillment and delivery of physical Blu-ray copies to begin in late June 2026.
Our physical merchandise is manufactured and shipped from the USA by a trusted fulfillment partner we have worked with for many years. Blu-rays are factory-pressed, region-free, and manufactured to the highest standard possible — the same standard as major studio releases.
Is this a limited release?
Yes. This is a limited-run release produced specifically to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Aliens. Orders close April 28th at midnight — once they're gone, they're gone.
Can I buy the slipcover separately?
No. The anniversary hard slipcover is only available as part of the complete 40th Anniversary Edition package and cannot be purchased on its own.
