The Thing Expanded Digital Sale FAQ
Introduction
We are running a limited two-week digital sale of The Thing Expanded, available exclusively at thethingexpanded.com until midnight on May 21st.
This article covers what is included in the sale, who it is for, and answers the most common questions we expect to receive. If you are an existing backer who already pre-ordered The Thing Expanded, please read the section below specifically for you before anything else.
Important Information for Existing Backers
If you pre-ordered The Thing Expanded during our original campaign, this sale is not aimed at you and you do not need to do anything. Your pre-order already includes everything you signed up for, including your physical media (where applicable) and your name in the credits.
This new sale is a digital-only offer designed to give people who missed the original campaign another chance to access the documentary. Specifically, please note:
- The sale is digital-only. It does not include any physical media. There are no Blu-rays, posters, t-shirts, slipcases, or any other physical items included in this offer.
- The sale does not include a credit. Getting your name in the credits was an exclusive reward for backers who pre-ordered before the documentary was completed. The credits are now locked and we are unable to add any new names.
- Your original pre-order is unaffected. Nothing about this sale changes the items, perks, or timeline associated with your pre-order.

What's Included in the Digital Edition
The Digital Edition is priced at $29:99/£22 and includes:
- A digital download of The Thing Expanded documentary
- The official soundtrack (digital), curated in partnership with New Retro Wave
- The original score by Txema Cabria (digital)
- A PDF booklet
The Digital Edition does not include any physical items.
Payment FAQ
My payment was declined, what should I do?
Our payments system is hosted by Shopify, the world's number one ecommerce platform. If you are having problems making a payment we are unable to assist directly. Please contact your card issuer or bank and ask them to accept the transaction.
What is your refund policy?
We do not offer refunds on digital downloads.
Do you accept international orders?
Yes. We accept most currencies through our secure payment processing system. Payments are processed in U.S. Dollars, so you will see the equivalent charge in your local currency on your bank or credit card statement.
Documentary FAQ
When will I receive my copy?
Your digital download will be available immediately upon purchase.
What are the tech specs for the digital download?
The documentary is delivered as a H264 file at 1080p, approximately 15GB in size. We also provide a lower-quality version at approximately 5GB if you prefer a smaller file.
Will the documentary have subtitles?
Yes. English, German, and Spanish subtitles are included.
Does the Digital Edition include my name in the credits?
No. Getting your name in the credits was an exclusive reward for people who ordered the documentary before it was complete. We are unable to add new names to the credits.
Does the Digital Edition include any physical items (Blu-ray, poster, t-shirt, etc.)?
No. This is a digital-only offer. If you would like physical media, please keep an eye on our future campaigns and announcements.
